This time of year around our house is crazy, between my two-year-old daughter and my forty-year-old husband, our home has become Halloween central. It happens every year; we celebrate July 4, go to the Ozark Empire Fair, and gather together with friends and family for a Labor Day Barbecue, by the end of September, we are digging out the Halloween decorations. In recent years, the celebration of Halloween has become taboo in our society; the ignorant masses have decided that Halloween is only a pagan holiday. I cannot help being amused at their Harvest festivals and bible costumes, if they want to abolish Halloween they should not reinvent the holiday to suit their pious belief. I do not mean to be insulting to anyone’s religious beliefs; I believe that individuals have the right to their own beliefs. We enjoy playing dress up, and going around to friend and relatives houses begging for candy. Halloween is the one time of the year, where its okay in our society to pretend and play, and to forget the stress and troubles of everyday life. On Halloween, we all get to be kids again, even if it is just for one night.
