A verdict was rendered today against a couple, Allison Coss and Scott Sippola, accused of trying to extort money from John Stamos. A federal judge convicted Coss and Sippola of attempting to extort $680,000 from television star John Stamos. The couple claimed to have embarrassing photos of the actor, and threatening to sell the photos to the tabloids if their demand for money was not met. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the alleged photos have never existed. Coss and Sippola have both been sentenced to four years in prison for the attempted extortion. Stamos, who has known the defendant Coss since 2004, did not attend the court hearing.
This article makes you wonder who your friends are. Coss had an acquaintanceship, maybe even a friendship with Stamos for the last six years. I myself do not form friendship easily, so to have a friend attempt to extort money from me would perform irreparable damage to me. It amazes me that someone would attempt to make easy money off someone, that they consider their friend. The fact that Stamos is famous and wealthy does not entitle anyone to try extorting money from him. However, the argument could be made that if he were not rich and famous, he would not have been put in this situation in the first place.
